It’s especially interesting because many are in the fight of their lives, the battle for equal rights. The right to be happy. The right to make decisions with your partner. The right to have children. The right to marry. Yes Mrs. Kern, I am talking about gay rights and you know what, we will win those rights. Just like women did when they won the right to vote. Just like the black Americans did when society was desegregated. Segregationists were on the wrong side of the issue then and Mrs. Kern, you are on the wrong side of the issues now. Along with your friend Mr. Dobson and Focus on the Family. Oh, and the majority of the Republican Party.

You may have won now but when it’s all said and done, you are going to be the loser.

When the Senate reconvenes in February, I would be very terrified if I were a woman because God knows they are going to pass many anti-choice bills.

I would be terrified if I were a student in the public school system because they will most likely pass a law requiring that creationism be taught in public schools. And our conservative “Democrats” will more than likely go along with them.

I would be terrified if I am an injured worker because they will pass a doctor-friendly tort reform package that gives that injured worker very little chance of receiving compensation. Yes, I agree that frivolous lawsuits need to be stopped but don’t hurt someone else in the process that truly deserves monetary damages.

The gay people in Oklahoma don’t have to worry right now because their rights were taken away in 2004 when the state passed the marriage ban, though I wouldn’t put anything past Sally Kern.

And we wonder why young Oklahomans are choosing elsewhere to work?

In all honesty, I had already decided to move but this last election just made it definite. I am looking at some apartments just across the river and some are fairly reasonable so we will see where I end up.

Since the election is over, the focus of this blog will be about my life in general. It’s not too exciting but I work at a neurology office and I believe I could entertain you with a few stories. My sister is even considering writing a book about it. She was always the true writer of the family.

Anyways, I am off to go look at some things.

If you haven’t read the “about me” section, I will tell you a bit about myself. I am twenty years old, live in Oklahoma (could move to Texas soon though) and I am a political geek. I have been interested in politics since 2000 and I have volunteered on many campaigns since 2002. One of my biggest accomplishments was being selected as a delegate to the state Democratic convention and also being selected to attend a campaign camp before I was even old enough to vote. A few years ago, I had a blog and it was fairly successful but there was drama and I got burned out. I have mainly just lurked over the past few years but over the past few months, I decided to go for it again. I would like to become an influential blog but that will happen over time. Not over night. This blog will feature things like other blogs do regarding politics but from a different prospective, a young person’s view of the state of their country. I will also include state politics as well, like my support for U.S. Senate candidate Andrew Rice.

Anyways, I believe that’s a good summarization on what I hope to accomplish. I hope you will be along for the ride.
